Afghan Women Symposiums

Decades of war have left Afghan women marginalized. Today, they are striving to regain their role in society. One way to help them on their way back to full participation in the public life is to organize events such as symposiums in which their voices can be heard and their concerns addressed.
At first international partners played a decisive role in gathering a group of Afghan women activists and conducting such events, first in Washington, DC, and then in Oslo, Norway. From 2016 onwards, Afghan women took the lead while still partnering with international institutions. Afghan Women Symposiums are now held in Kabul allowing for a larger number of participants including women from the provinces.
